Got time to kill - no better than living in the NOW - So workout - Give yourself that daily dose of your Hour of Power. Treat yourself to some fitness fun. No its not a chore its YOUR new lifestyle. Embrace it, do it, live it. don't wait, do it now - No regrets.  
As stated on my Home page - is some important reasons to work out. Working out will keep you UPRIGHT longer. Yes, it is known to improve life time expectancy. What is more important than that??  
I will always say, know your limitations - Some of us havent worked out for years, numerous reasons as to why - but now you have no excuses - Working out in your later years is all a part of growing old. Yes we all grow old - Well most of us, so we look at ourselves, we eat healthy, go for walks, set more goals, enjoy our retirement

Is there such a thing?  Your workout must include, full body warmup,  and that depends alot on what type of workout you are going to do. I will say that I do a full body warmup as my workouts cover most of the body, especially with the core fitness aspect.  So really, you are warming your body up, from the tips of your toes to the tips of your dandruff (if you have any). Major concern is not to over exert any of the areas such as knees and shoulders as these areas are some of the most operated on in us older and wiser people. It was known - to spend only 5x minutes for a warmup - nowadays atleast 5 to 10 minutes should be considered depending on one's ability and workout program.      
Take your time with the warm down, as there isn't any rush for doing so. The warm down when done wrong - rushed, can cause you all sorts of health problems. Learn to do your warm down which is much like the reverse of the warm up. Numerous videos on You Tube to learn from.

Right clothes- shoes to wear-
Most of our working out is done standing up, so lets look at getting a pair of shoes, joggers, runners. In fact, you can have a pair of shoes specific to your workout requirements, but first, there are 3x feet shapes. 1x normal, 2x flat footed, 3x high arch. Athletes foot will do just that and fit a jogger to your feet shape. Only 7% of us buy the  correct shaped shoe for our feet.  Others buy a shoe based on its  look. A lot of us are running around with the wrong shoes on - literally. (reminds me of my old work boots) Don't let that be you.  Next, what to wear - I stipulate clothes that like a tracksuit, again depending on your workout type. Please wear something that sets the MOOD for your working out. When you wear workout clothes, it gives you a positive outlook on what is coming next - ie your Hour of Power. A dear friend of mine will not wear any workout clothes, just his usual casual clothes.  Don't let that be you either.  Set the MOOD  with the right shoes and clothing - Enjoy.

5. Helps improve cardiovascular health - Recent studies have found that stretching can improve artery function and lower blood pressure.
In conclusion, don't overlook the benefits of stretching. Make sure that stretching is a regular part of your fitness program

Self Defence and the LAW
You can only defend yourself with such force that is deemed necessary - the test is - what is seen to be REASONABLE under the circumstances - ie, no more force than is necessary to stop the attack. So some young punk hits you - you retaliate and put them on their arse - don't then go and stomp on their head/s. Put your nike shoes to good effect - call the cops or get the heck out of there.   
Unfortunately, as the worlds population ages, us over 50's are becoming more and more in numbers, and some of us the targets of the young punks.  The reasons are so numerous to mention here. What I can do is give YOU some tips on how to better prepare yourself if a young punk forgets his or her PLACE; Of course I am only speaking about the 1x per-centers, the majority are decent people and respect the elderly. 
1st is awareness - Yes, awareness of your surroundings 24/7.  Walking anywhere, keep your head up, looking around and behind within reason - Being aware of your surroundings is fundamental to your survival in the concrete jungle. Always carry a mobile phone, medical kit, id bracelet with blood type, as this will help YOU if the circumstances arise.
2nd is know your rights - We all HAVE the right to defend ourselves and our loved one's. We all have the right to make a citizens arrest.  Be mindful of who it is that infringes on YOUR rights. But get to know your countries legislation through criminal codes, laws etc. 
3rd is what can I use at hand - to defend myself when push comes to shove - Depending on the circumstances, you need to protect yourself and there isn't any other avenue but to hit out, ie cornered, out muscled - aim for the three (3x) weakest areas of your opponent ie, eyes, throat and groin, hit hard then get the heck out of there. - Only use physical force if there is absolutely no other option. Be mindful of YOUR OWN physical abilities or lack their of.
